Tool belt
The tool belt carries your basic tools so they don't take up space in your inventory or add to your weight. To open it, go to the Equipment panel and click the third icon along the bottom.
Tools go on the belt by themselves when you get them. You can also right-click a tool in your inventory and pick Add-to tool belt. To take a tool back out, open the tool belt, find the tool and left-click it. It leaves the belt and goes back into your inventory. You keep everything on your tool belt when you die.
Using it
With a tool on the belt, you don't need to use the tool on things any more. Click the thing itself instead: click a log to light it with the belt's tinderbox, or right-click it for the other things you can do with it.
Be careful left-clicking things you can craft, like unicorn horns. With the tool on the belt, a left-click may start making something you didn't mean to.
Crafting works with the needle on your tool belt for leather and dragonhide (you still need thread), and with the glassblowing pipe for molten glass.

Pickaxes and hatchets
Only the bronze pickaxe and bronze hatchet go on the belt. For Mining and Woodcutting, wield a better one so that you have all 28 inventory spaces free for ore and logs.
Where it doesn't work
- Dungeoneering has its own tool belt for Daemonheim. Your normal one doesn't work there.
- The spade only works on things with a dig or harvest option, like Farming patches and the Giant Mole's lair. For treasure trails and Barrows, take it out of the tool belt or carry another spade.
- Some quest steps need the tool in your inventory, like lighting the lighthouse in Horror from the Deep. Take it out of the tool belt first.
- The sextant can't go on the belt. For coordinate clues, carry it with you; the watch and chart on the belt are enough.
